Abstract

This paper presents a comparative analysis of the prevalence of various types of malocclusions in patients of different ethnic groups. The main classes of malocclusions are considered, including classes I, II, and III, as well as vertical and transverse malocclusions. Based on a summary of clinical and epidemiological data, differences in the structure and frequency of malocclusions are identified among Caucasian, Asian, Negroid, and mixed populations.
It has been established that Caucasians are characterized by a high prevalence of first- and second-class malocclusions with severe dental crowding, while Mongoloids are more likely to have third-class malocclusions and transverse anomalies, while Negroid individuals are characterized by physiological dental protrusion and a lower incidence of crowding. It has been shown that the development of malocclusions is determined by a combination of genetic and environmental factors, including jaw growth patterns, nutrition, and functional habits.
The clinical significance of considering ethnic characteristics in diagnosis and orthodontic treatment planning is emphasized. Further research using modern genetic and digital technologies is needed to more accurately understand the mechanisms underlying malocclusion.
